INQUEST ON WAIKAIA VICTIMS,
Core, August 15. - At an inquest yesterday' morning toucK«.i ing the, deaths of the men Lindsay and Toynazzinij killed at Waikaia on August 8, evidence was given by W. P. Early, the foreman, to the effect that care had been taken when firing. He had warned the hands not to touch the unexploded gelignite, but to fetch witness. J. J. Kennedy, a labourer who had been working with the gang in which deceased were, heard Toynazzini say there was gelignito in one hole, and that he would go for Early. Lihdsav replied that he would take the gelignite out himself. Lindsay made three strokes with the pick, and the third caused the explosion. The jury returned a verdict that Joseph Toynazzini and James Lindsay met their death accidentally by the explosion of gelignito at the Muddy Terrace Company's waterrace.
