INDUSTRIAL DISPUTES.
DEMANDS OF NAPIER DRIVERS. The claims of the Napier Drivers' Union ol ' Workers, will be considered by the Board ol Conciliation at Napier on August 21. Follow ingare the main provisions:—
A week's work shall consist of 47 hours exclusive of time required for necessary stablo attendance, which shall not exceed one :liour .per day. Minimum rates of pay shall,be as follow:—General carriers and truckers at, sawmills, £2,175. .per week where two, horses, are driven, 3s. per week for each additional, horse,, and £2 14s. for drivers of ono,horse; bakers and retail grocers, £2 10s.; rubbish and .sanitary carters, £3; casual drivers,ls. 3(1. per hour. Overtime rates shall be: General carriers and truckers at sawmills, Is. 6d. per hour for the first two hours, and 2g. per hour Subsequently; time worked between 7 p.m. and 8 pm., 2s. per hoik; .bakers and grocers, Is. 3d. per hour; riibbish and sanitary, carters, 2s. per hour-, casual drivers same as general carriers. "With reference to omnibus and coach drivers, 60 hours shall constitute a week's work. Their wages shall bo the same as those for general carriers.' Packages carried within- tho borough shall not exceed 281b.-; and 'those outside and withjn, seven miles lewt. Rates for special drags<on Sundays or picnic buses, S3'. per half day; 10s. per day; Taradale service, regular- buses; 2s. 6d. per trip; night driving, theatre and ball jobs, Napier Spit, 2s. i»r trip; Napier-Taradale, 35.; NapierHastings or Eskdale, 10s. The following holidays shall be observed: —Napier and Hastings: New Year's Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, King's Birthday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, Prince of Wales's Birthday, People's Show Day; Daniievirko! tho same, with tho exception of - Show Dayj which shall be replaced by Manawatu Show Day. • All. driving done on Sundays, _ Christmas Day, and Good Friday to be paid for at tho rate of 3s. per hour, on other holidays" at time and a half. Drivers'working under the'agreement must join and'continue, to be members of the union. When a: member is in arrears with his dues his employer shall dismiss him if they are not paid within .a fortnight. The proposed award shall have effect within a radius of 20 miles of Napier Post Office, and a radius of 10 miles of Dannevirko Post Office.

Trawlers shall he, classified, as under:—First-class: Sir W. Wallace, Muriel, Phantom, and Nora Nivenj each to carry a crew of five; second-class: Pilqt v Savair, Pariia, Result, crews of four; third-class: Irhaca, Kina, Endon, crews of three. The wages shall be: Captains, £4 per week, and Is; per 100 bundles of fish; engineers,' do.; second hands, £3 and :6ame bonus.; other hands £2 10s. per week.: Overtime shall be paid for at the rate of time and a half. • Meals required-on trawlers shall be supplied by the employers. Nots. shall be • made, ashore, and the crews shall 'be required only to repair the same. The following.holidays shall - bo observed: Christmas Day, Good Friday, Boxing Day, Labour Day, New Year's Day, Easter Monday, Sovereign's Birthday,"second day of the Hawke's Bay Show. All work done on Christmas Day, Good Friday, and Sundays shall'be paid for at the double rates; work done on other holidays at time and a half. Preference shall be granted to unionists.
