'It was pointed out,-that according to .a 'special telegram ap(poaring .in The Bominton, tlie question bad siiice 'been further' disciissed ;by the Hawke's [Bay Association,. whioli," it was stated, ; "!had every reason ,to halic,v« that, a. verbal icliargc/niado against Mr,. Fagan was unfounded, -and it had, thei'efore,, decided to nee -the matter through.".
The chairman said the position was as follows;: —He had gohe tp •-a ' considerable amount of troublo to explain to Mr". Jacgar .(the secretaiy of the Hattfe-s Bay Association) how difficult it : was to maintain tho purity -of - the sport. Among other things, he. had -told him that the Wellington Association was not going to permit any association under its jurisdiction to conduct the management of boxing at a standard lower •than.that which it,had set lip. He was not personally acquainted with.Mr. Fagaii. Tha fact remained, however, that_ they wereaware, on very reliable authority, that the •methods of an association with which Mr. Fiigan was formerly --connected, were not in conformity with the Association's standards. Halo had been .selected to represent the Association in tha :lioavy.-lve)ght,,. division at the New Zealand •championships on August 19 and 20. ' The prices of admission in connection with the ' Godfrey-Ireland contest at tho- Opera .House on September 1 wore fixed as follow: —Stage, ,10s.; front stalls. os.; dress circle, Gs.; back stalls, 45.; and family circle, 26. It was reported that Mr. W. F. Corbctt • (representative of the Association in Aus-tralia)-had'been written to with a view of ascertaining : whether Sid Sullivan, professional feather-weight champion' of Australia, was willing to meet Tim Tracev, professional light-weight champion of the Dominion, in a 16-round contest on November 24. \ Jack Griffin,-Arat-ika, applied fpl- A match ' with Tim Tracey for the professional lightweight championship of New Zealand, and Albert Parker, of Dunedjii, asked to bo matched with' any light-weiglit. It was decided to reply that the requests could not bo acceded to. at-the'present time.
