The Chinese in British Columbia threaten to boycott Canadian goods if the anti-opium legislation passes. Thoy claim to bo allowed ten years in which to sell their stock, otherwise t.'iey declare they will lose millions of dollars. X-RAY MARTYR.* £ ANOTHER AMPUTATION ON DR. HALLEDWARDS. As was feared at the time he lost his left hand, a second operation lias had to be performed "upon Dr. Hall-Edwards, the Birmingham X-ray scientist, who contracted dermatitis through exposing his hands to the rays. The disease takfcs'tho form of painful warts upon tho parts exposed to the rays, and no remedy for severe.cases has yet been discovered.

On Sunday Juno 28 Dr. Gilbert Barling, assisted by Drs. M'Cardie and Vickers AVhitby, amputated the whole of tho right hand with the exception of tho thumb, and it is hoped that tho drastic measures will relieve tho paiil and suffering so long endured. On inquiry it was stated that tho patient was as well as could bo expected, but naturally, after a long period, during which tho only sleep lie lias had has been that produced by narcotics or sheer exhaustion, his physical condition was such as to cause great anxiety.
