FEILDING NEWS.
(prom our special correspondent.) On Saturday the final competition for Lieut. Perry's medal and Major Tatum's spurs was fired by tho Feilding Mounted Rifles. Corporal Hawes won tho medal with a score of 187, and Sergeant Caldwell tho spurs, his score being 181. A start is to bo made this week by tho Postal Department in the erection of a telephone wire from Colyton to Waiata 1 . A meeting of Mr. D. H. Guthrie's supporters was held at Kimbolton on Saturday night.' Mr. H. Fowler was in tho chair. A unanimous vote was passed pledging those present to support Mr. Guthrie's candidature in the Opposition interest. A strong committee of ovei 1 thirty members, representative of all ■ parts of tho district, was formed to assist m securing tho candidate's election. Mr. H. Fowler was elected chairman and secretary of tho committee, and
tho whole proceedings wero of an' enthusiasts nature.
Thero wcro large congregations at tho anniversary services in tho Feilding Primitive Methodist Church on Sunday. Tho preacher was the Rev. C. E. Ward, of Wellington.
Tho Baptist Sunday School at Taonui celebrated its anniversary on Sunday. Pastor Swincrd, of- Feilding, being tho preacher. Lambs are making their appearanco in slr. A. F. Fitzherbert's paddock at Aorangi.
