OBITUARY.

Mrs. Marks, relict of the lato Mr. M. L. Marks, who was in business for some years in Wellington, died in Brisbano oil Sunday night at the residcuco of Mr. George Myers, brother of Mr. Judah Myers, of this city. Tho deceased lady, who was seventysix years of 1 age, was born in South Australia, but was for twenty years resident in this city. Among tho members of her family aro Miss I'\ Marks, and Messrs Albert and Marcus Marks (Hansard Supervisor), of this city, lleccnt advices stated that tho deceased was in excellent health, but more receiitlj she contracted a. severe attack of to which slio succumbed.

Tho deaths of three old identities havo been recorded— namely, tho wife of Mr. David Bourke, of Humphreys, • aged 70; Jana lilithc, of Humphreys, aged 70; and Robert Ferguson, minor, of ilium. Mr. William Kcech, aged 73, a very old West Coaster, died at Kumara this morning after a short illness. Deceased was a very enterprising member of tho community, being largely concerned in ..mining undertakings and shipping ventures. His demise removes a very notablo ligure from the Kumara district.

The late Mr. Kcech was one of the earlj pioneers of Victoria and the West Coast ol New Zealand. He was a very intimate friend and neighbour for many years of tha late Right Hon. R. J. Scddon and family, in Scddon Street, Kumara, and was much respected and esteemed for his sterling character. Ho leaves a widow and au only son.
