She has on board 30 saloon and 57 steerage passengers for nil ports, and is expected to reach \Y ellington ,on Wednesday, sailing tho iollowing day for Melbourne, via Southern ports and Hobart. , THE MOIvOIA. Two days later than usual, the Union Company's steamer Mokoia arrived from Sydney, via Auckland and Napier. She left Sydney behind time, wet weather thero preventing loading operations. Too much sea was running at Gisboruo to work cargo, and tho Mokoia had to miss her call there. The vessel is advertised to leave for Southern ports at 2 o'clock this afternoon, and takes no cargo. /Captain Stringer is to relieve Captain Drewettc of the Itoniata. Mr. D. Ritchie, chief officer of the Waipori, has been granted holiday leave, and has been relieved by Mr. H. C. Mills. On Friday the Union Company's steamer Wanaka left, Auckland for ; Wellington, and is expected to arrive here to-day. Captain Nicholson rejoined the Koonya at Dunedin on Wednesday, relieving Captain J. R. Stringer, who camo ashore for orders. * Mi-. • Anderson, second officer of the Kaiapoi, had to leave that vessel at Auckland this trip owing to illness, and was relieved by Mr. A. It is expected that the Union Company's three cargo steamers Komata, Kaituna, and Kittawa, will leave Wellington to-day, for Westport,' Greyinoulh,. and Napier respectively. Captain G. H. Lacey has taken command of the, Navua, and Captain ..Jordan lias transferred to the Hauroto. The other officers of the respective steamers also went from one vessel to the other at the same time. , The tramp steamer New Orleans, of 22G1 tons, which'delivered a cargo from New York at New Zealand ports recently, is reported a total wreck on the Borneo coast. The crew spent 23 days on tho wreck, and were finally picked up and landed at Singapore by a - Dutch steamer.

Tho now and improved dietary scale adopted by tho Union Steam Ship Company for its hands is now being instituted oh the'Mararoa, which will be brought into line with the Maheno and Maori. The change is greatly appreciated by the men, although tho food and the manner of its serving, was never a cause for complaint among them. An addition has been made to Bluff fishing fleets. The Pish and Oyster Company.has just completed tho purchase .of a GS-ton steam craft named the Gisborne. She is ■ schooner rigged, 74ft. in length, 19ft. Bin. beam, and 7ft. Gin. depth, built at Whangaroa of kauri in 1881 by Messrs. Lane and Brown. She'.has been trading in and about Auckland. . Of the 32 vessels which are due to arrive at Hobart-'tltii'lug-.tlid nfeit ttto inonths, no fewer than 21 are French sailing ships, which are on- their*- way;'to the TaSMrihialf' T ports'. for "orders.". All the sailers "are 'bound from European or United States ports, and will mostly bo ordered on to North Pacific ports. .
