The representative football match between Wanganui and South Canterbury was played on the Recreation Ground this afternoon, when the weather conditions wero perfect, thero being no wind. Tho game proved in-, tcresting and fairly even. The opposing forwards wero equally matched, but. tho local backs were slightly smarter. Wanganui, who wero without the services of Reed, Hogan, and Leahy, played with the sun in their eyes in the first spell. South Canterbury made the first score, Priest being responsible for a try, which Roddick converted with a splendid kick. Shortly afterwards the visitors were penalised, and Payton kicked a goal, tho spell ending—South Canterbury, 5 points; Wanganui, 3. On . resuming the Wanganui backs opened up play, and Mitchell, as a finale to a nice passing rush, scored near the posts, Seeling converting. The AVanganui backs continued to keep the ball to themselves, and, from another passing rush, Mitchell again scored,' but the major points were not added. Tho visiting forwards, who were playing well, took play into Wanganui territory, and Roddick eventually scored, but the kick was unsuccessful. Towards tho close of the game tho Wanganui forwards forced play, and Irvine scored, and Payton added the major points, the final score being:—

Tho British team, who in the first match defeated New South Wales by 3 points to nil, again defeated New South Wales to-day by 8 points to nil. As on tho occasion of tho first, match, the weather was.very bad, and the ground was ankle deep in mud. There were 20,000' people present. Harding, the British captain, did not play, owing to injuries. Dibble captained the visitors. Britain almost scored within a few minutes of the opening. Some capital play on both sides followed, but New South Wales could not break down tho defence of the Britishers, which was magnificent, and their tackling was deadly. From fast play in New South Wales' twenty-five, "Polity" Jones secured tho ball and, running brilliantly, i outstripped his opponents and sent the ball to "Tuan" Jones, who scored, but "Polity" Jones made a poor attempt to add the extra points. Tho local men obtained tho ball oftener in tho scrum than did the visitors, but failed to mako good use of their chances. In the second half,, play was very good, despito the state of the ground. A formidable dash ended in Davey scrambling over, and "Tuau" Jones added an easy goal.

The representative players who were not engaged in the Charity match journeyed to Miramar on Saturday afternoon and hold k practice. After the game, the men were rubbed down under the direction of Mr. Leslie, who is the trainer of tho team.

The employees of Sargood, Son, and Ewen defeated a team from Macky, Logan, and Caldwell's by 21 to nil. Tries were scored by Saunders (3), Campbell (2), Green, and M'Ewen.
