Tho Hon. R. M'Nab will go South to-night. Ho will visit his constituency this week. Mr. C. S. Rennel, secretary of tho New Plymouth Harbour Board, is at present on a visit to Wellington. Mr. J. Lomas, Chief Inspector of Factories, and Mr. W. Temple, Architect for Workers Dwellings, aro at present on a visit to Christchurch. Sir. J. K. Logan, Superintendent oi Electric Lines, and Mr. T. Buckley, Chief Electrician, aro at present in lnvercargill on official business. Inspector Ellison, who has been on a. visit to l'icton, Blenheim, and Ilavelock, returned to Wellington by tho Pateena on Saturday night. Mr. J. D. Louch, who has for some years been resident engineer on the northern section of tho Main Trunk Railway works, has been transferred to Wellington, and will take up his new position shortly. Mr. Percy P. Giesen, brother of Dr. Giesen, of Wellington, died at Palmerston North on Friday from an internal complaint. The lato Mr. Giesen, who was in his 34th year, was well known in athletic circles. Mr. W. Goodman, who is leaving tho cmploy of the Wellington Gas Company, was presented with a smoker's companion and tobacco pouch at a social gathering, given in his honour by his fellow workers on Friday. . Mr. W. I'. James, S.M., will occupy the bench at the Magistrate! s Court this morning. It is stated that Mr. James will give assistance at Wellington at intervals during tho absence of Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., in Napier. Mr. T. Butler, a former pupil of St. Patrick's College, has passed the final examination for the degree of Doctor of Dentistry at (,bo University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, attaining in the various subjects an average of 97.4 per cent, of marks. A Sress Association telegram from Napier states:—The announcement is mado of tho death of Mi\ James Haj\ formerly chief draughtsman in the Napier Lands Oflico. lieceased wont to Sydney somo months ago for tho purpose of securing medical advice, and shortly after his arrival ho underwent an operation, which, however, proved ineffective in gotting to tho root of tho trouble, and cable advico received on Saturday stated that Mr. Hay had passed away.
