Tho Public Works Committee recommended that Mr. Peers's proposed subdivision of the Polo Ground be, approved, and that he bo 'granted permission to fill' in the. open dr.-'.in along Miramar- Avenue; the work to be carried out to tho. satisfaction of the' Council. Includedl in the amounts passed for payment were district fund account £706 os. 7d., and improvement loan account-, £1223 9a. 3d. . Tho Japancsa are a hard-working, frugal race, and would do well in the far south.
