(BY IELEGBArII—rIIESS ASSOCIATION.) " : Christchurch, August 5. > At- : the Aldington l 'live stock market to-day there .was a good .attendance. In fat sheep, cattle,—and lambs there were 'special entries of f'fime lots for. the Grand National week's trade, 'at cattle sold at advanced rates./ Fat lambs Bold if ell, but there Tras a dr»p in all classes of store sheep. Fat pigs sold at late rates, and stores were in good demand. There was a large yarding of store sheep, including a censiderable proportion of ewes from , the North. The quality of the yarding was mixed, and the tono of the market was decidedly, easier,' as compared with late sales. The most marked decline in values wa» in ewes, which suffered to the extent of fully 2s. per head. 1 Hoggets were down about Bd. per head. Wethers showed little or no change. The falling off in the demand for ewes is said to bo due to an over supply, and to the fact that most farmers liavo purchased all they, require. There was a fair entry of fat lambs, and they brought late rates. There was a good number entered in tha butchers'.-pens,, this being the first sale in the year that'young lambs make their appearanco m'.th'e yards. .There were, however, only a few spring lambs among those in, the bulk being late or autumn..lambs. Tho yarding of fat cattle totalled 325, and included somo'lines of exceptionally primo quality, and tho market was decidedly firmer. A grand bullock in tho primost condition, sent in by V. O. Rutherford (Montrose), brought £20 10s., tho highest price paid in tho yards for a long timo past, Fourteon other prime steers sold on account of different owners bronght prices ranging from £li 10s. to .£ls ss.
