Tho case of Frederick Raymond Roso, who was arrested on July '31 _on a charge oi drunkenness, was'rosumed in tho Police Court this afternoon. Rose had sworn that h« was not drunk when arrested, but that he had been stricken with strangulated hernia; 110 averred that tho police had been brutal when arresting him. This morning half a score of witnesses swore that Roso was drunk when arrested, whilst sovcral testified that tlioy believed that ho was sober shortly before the time of bis arrest. ."Unquestionably you were drunk," said Hi? Worship. "You say you had not had any thing to eat or anything to drink sinci morning, but witnesses life sworn that the} smelt drink ou you. You deliberately refused to givo your name, which was no) the conduct of a man in pain.
