Amongst the ; abovo players, there are a number who have never played.unrepresentative .football in Wellington before, • and whose performance in the forthcoming match must be taken into consideration when the selectors get to. work on the teams (both A and B) that are to: battle for Wellington in the eight or ten representative matches yet to be played. 1 The team is, therefore, expected, to train energetically,- in order that -AVellington may hold its end up during the strenuous games already programmed. Heady has informed the selectors that he will be unable to accompany the Wellington team to Auckland. A substitute will probably be selected in his place to-day. WEDNESDAY HATCHES. The two games set down to b6 played at Miramara yesterday were postponed owing to rain..-' The only game contested was that between Stars and Tramways at Newtown STARS v. TRAMWAYS. • Tramways created a surprise by playing,a drawn game with ,Stai'S (the leading team in the competition) at Newtown Park. .Taking ,ihe game all through, Stars ma;y be judged at the. better team, but Tramways' defence Was'very sound, which certainly had a lot to do with the result of. the game. Stara played against the strong wind in the first spell, and. soon after thq-kick-off Tramways were. put on' the defence. The Stars were almost scoring several, times, but the attacks were. continually, reputed, . and the spell ended with no score. . 'On resuming, Stars again pressed, and were rewarded by Richards scoring a try from a line-out a few yards from their opponents' line. ~ The kick at goal was a failure. Tramways then showed . up, and reversed play. . Their repeated efforts to score, liowover, were, fruitloss, and they wero again pressed to defend. Close on time the forwards broke away, and from a melee on the lino they, equalised thoscoro through Clarke, scoring at the corner. Luxford's kick. at..goal was futile., Tho game ended immediately afterwards with thoscoro: Tramways ' » ... 3 Stars ..; ..i 3 Mr. Crowes was refereo. , ' AN INTER-COLLECE MATCH. A Press Association telegram from Christchurch says':—The annual match between tho Boys' High School and Christ Collego was played on .the .College grounds'yesterday, afternoon, and resulted in a win for tho High Sohool by 22 points to 13.
