Mr. Justico Cooper yesterday as a notary public. Mr. It. 11. W. Bligh, White Cross lecturer, arrived yesterday by the Maori from the South, and is staying at tho Y.M.C.A. Booms. • The dentil occurred yesterday of Miss Winifred/Pearl 'Criclitnri,'oldest'daughter of Mr. Win. CJrieliton, the well-known architect. Tho secretary of St. John Ambulance Association (Mr. J. D. Avory) states that his Excolloncy the Governor has consented to preside at tho annual moetinc to bo held in tho Town Hall on August 25. Tho death occurred at Dunedin on August 1 of Mr. Eniost A. Hjorrinit, of that cit.v, whoso brother, Mr. Fred. Hjorring,'is well known in business circles in Wellington. Deceased was thirty-five years of ago. Mr. Gil P. Hoskins ' who. for four years lias been secretary and troasuror of Mossrs. John Fuller and Sons, has resigned that position, in order to take over the management of tho Royal Pictures Syndicate. _Ho will enter upon his new duties next Wednesday. Our Dunedin correspondent writes Mr. A. Salinger, tho Drainage Board's engineer, has been invited to go to AVcllington about tho middle of' the month to give evidence on tho half of the Remuera Road Board in connection with the Auckland Drainage Bill now before Parliament, but is too busy to go. Mr. Edward Pritchard, proprietor ofNumba Estate, Nowra, New South Wales; died last week. He was well known as a railway contractor some years ago (says tho Sydney "Daily* Telegraph"), having constructed tho section of the lino-from Kiama to Bomaderry, as well as many other important lines in New South Wales and Now Zealand. Ho was a noted breeder of- Holstein cattle, having won many prizes at tho Sydney show.
