NAPIER AND GISBORNE. Mr. H. N. Holmes, general secretary of tho Wellington Y.M.C.A., returned yesterday well satisfied 'with his visit to Napior and Gisborne. ' Ho mot tho ministers of Napier, and after a men's meeting in. tho Theatre Royal 140 young men gavo in their names as willing to join a branch of tho Association if such wero established. Mr. Holmes was largely assisted by Mr. W. T. Williams, son of the late .Archdeacon Williams, who is very anxious to seo a branch formed. The' present position is that £2GO 13s. Id. per annum for threo years has been guaranteed for payment of a secretary and to meet current expenses of a branch. Going next to Gisborne, Mr. Holmes and Mr. Vincent, who will bo secretary of the branch at Hamilton, were present at a dinnor of tho leading business men and church men, at which the forward policy of the Wellington Association was described. No fewer than 125 young men_ attended a dinner on the following evening. Both gatherings ondorsed tho policy of appointing a permanent secretary, and up to dato £180 per annum for thrco years has been guaranteed. Tho Association will not commenco work in either Napier or Gisborno until tho permanent secretaries have been appointed, and can tako up their duties,'
