TURKISH SITUATION.
' COMMITTEE RULE. SULTAN'S ORDERS DISOBEYED. IZZET ESCAPES. (HI TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION—COT!RIGHT.) (Rec. August 4, 9.30 p.m.) Constantinople, August 4. The British steamer Maria, with the Sultan's fallen favourite Izzet Pasha onboard— which was stopped at tho Dardanelles pending inquiries from the British Embassy as to what should bo done with the fugitive— has now been ordered to procecd, as no extradition treaty exists. Tho chiefs of the Bulgarian and the Albanian bands have fraternised at Salonika. Tho Committee of Union and Progress is receiving numerous .communications demanding the withdrawal of the foreign gendarmerie officers. Now that constitutional order is established, tho Committee expresses tho hope that tho Powers will voluntarily recall their representatives.
Tho Committee prevented the Turkish warships, which were anchored >in the Gulf of Salonika, from leaving for Dede'-Agach, though the Sultan ordered them to do so.
