SEVEN TOWNS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA DESTROYED. ' . EIGHT HUNDRED PERSONS KILLED. (lii TELEGRAPH—PRESS ASSOCIATION —COFI'IUuIIT.) (Rec. August 4, 9.45 p.m.) Vancouver, 8.C., August 4. 'It is reported that great damagp has been caused by bush fires in the Kootenay Valloy, British Columbia. Seven towns have been destroyed, and ton thousand peoplo have been rendered homeless. Other towns aro threatened by tho fire.
It is reported that 800 lives havo been lost, and that lOjOOO porsons havo been rondered homeless. The damage is estimated at four million pounds sterling.
The. fire is still raging.
