■A meeting of the Petone Fire Board was held in-the.Mayor's.'room yesterday: afternoon.. His Worship tho Mayor (Mr. J. W. M'iiwan)"; presided, and there were also present Councillors Castle and Southgate, and Messrsi. 0. K. Ewen, J. J. Mallard, and R. M. Simpson. ■ His "Worship and Mr. Simpson wero'appointed delegates to the' Fire Board Association. Mr. C. Lepper was' appointed superintendent of the brigade at a salary of. £180; .per annum,! and Mr. W. Ryder deputy' superintendent. A further order for plant for the'.brigade was passed by the • Board, and other routine business the meeting. • Tho. members, of tho Citizens'. Brass Band hold their annual general meeting in the board-room, Jackson Street, last ovening. Tho election took place of a committee for tbo ensuing, year, and 1 tho balance-sheet and auditor's , report wero received.
