As a sequel to the recent rioting, tho polico raided tho headquartors of the French Labour Confederation and arrested eighteen proIminent Labour Anarchists. • The Trado Union secretaries thereupon appointed a new directing committee, which announced 1 a gonoral' twenty-four hours' strike on Monday iis a protest against the killing of strikers on Thursday., The Government is determined to provent the proposed strike. : "L'ASSASSIN." DANGEROUS STATE OF FEELING IN PARIS. . ' STRIKES AND INCITEMENTS TO VIOLENCE. (Rec.' August 3, 9 f .50 p.m.) i . Paris, August 3. Owing to the 'Compositors' .'and Printers' Unions striking, in obedience to orders from the Labour Confederation, many Pari? papers are not appearing to-day. Several other trades have struck. •" The Socialist Committee accuse the Government of murdering workers. The chief organ of the Confederation publishes a cartoon representing M. Clemenceau's head on a pike, under ,the title "L'Assassin." > There are many wild appeals for a resort to violence, but" the' general community urges the Government to vigorously defend law and order. • ■ •
