CEMENTING THE ENTENTE.
VISIT OF GERMAN WORKMEN TO LONDON. On Juno 7 upwards of 120 German workmen arrived in London on a week's visit, sixty of the number hailing from Duisburg, on tho Rhino, a similar number from Dusseldorf, and tho remainder from'other manufacturing centres of tho Fatherland. They wero representatives of many trades, i-ud their visit was tho outcome of visits to Germany by members of tho Travel Club connected with the Browning Settlement, Walworth, which annually sends parties of English working men' to tho Continent. After dining at tho Browning Club, tho party attended an international demonstration held no tho Browning Hall, York Street, Waliv.irth Road, whoro, in addition to tho Gernnn visitors, French and English workmen wore preiint in largo numbors. Groat enthusiasm characterised tho wholo of tho proceedings. Mdllo. do Montmort, a French ialy, rrcupied the chair, .and mado a. graceful spcoch of welcomo in both German and ringlisli. Mr. G. Barnes, M.P., said tho i athoring was an interesting and inspiring. function. Its object was to cemcnt that v-ling of solidarity which, ho was happy to fay, '. as growing up not only between Germany and England, nut between the peoples of' all nations. (Applause.) A number of the workmen from Ijuisbu>g next dolightcd tho pothering with r. fjee, ,r nd received a rapturous encore. In the c<oiling tho visitors proceeded to Hydo l'a.'k &nd St. James's and the Green Park. A party of over twenty French I'ositivists also visited London for a few days, and attended a reception given by mem titrs of tl-.o London Positivist Society.
