FEILDING NEWS.

(FItOM' OUIt SPECIAL COBItESrOSDENT.) During the present month there wero registered at the local Registrar's office twelve births, two marriages, and five deaths. The Government has made a grant of £27 towards fencing the Feilding Technical School building. During tho last month pormits for buildings of tho total value of about £500 wero issued from the Borough Engineer's office. This does not by any moans denote the progress of the town, .as just : outside tho Borough boundary o ntho western sido there are several in courso' of construction, one of which is to cost £1000. Mr. James WilirimßOiij an old resident of Feilding, whose -artistic construcof violins has especially brought him' under public notice, was presented this imorning with a watch and chain by Mr. \V. A. Sandilands on behalf of a, largo number of subscribers as a mark of their respect for him as a townsman and a good tradesman. Mr. Williamson has joined tho staff of the telephono branch of tho Telegraph Department as an expert maker of sounding boards. Ho has previously been engaged in making sounding boxes for Morse instruments; Some years ago he received an award for a .violin made of New Zealand wood, which was exhibited at tho St. Louis Exhibition. Mr. and Mrs. "Williamson left for AVelliugton yosterday.
