NEW ZEALAND FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION. Last night a mooting of the New Zealand Football Association was- hold- in Armit's Booms. Thcro were present: Messrs. Geo; Brodie (chairman), Dixon, Oilier, Williams, Auld, M'Koown, Martin, and-Salmon. It was decided that' the annual tournament for tho Brown Shield-,"Bp'Vplayed- in Dmio'din 011 September 9 and 12;-when team? from Auckland, Taranaki,' Christ'churcli, .alid Dunedin will compete.. ' - ' Copies of- lotters sent to -Mri-.A./E. Gibbs and .the gentleman who recently..offered, to finance an Association "team" if fecnt 'Homo wero read and confirmed! ' ? An invitation was . received '• from -Master-, ton, requesting that Wellington. teams bo asked ■ to,.travel and play:-the', Mastertdn Club. A letter was received from. Mr.'W. Churchward, of BJonheim, conveying tho good news that' " soccor" was increasing: in popularity and was likely to go ahead tliqre.. . .' V'; Correspondence was' received .'stating !tlia!t a .New South' Wales team was ; likely to visit New' Zealand next season. "'!' : '" ' ' Tho gamo was'reported to •be progressing generally,, -and clubs are likely to,. bq formed at Inglowood, Waifara, and Bell Block. Hawko's Bay was affiliated .'to the" New Zealand Football Association, and Messrs'.. Shields and Cornish were, appointed their delegates! Tho game is making good pfogrcss there, and an' effort' is 'being .made' to get" a team to journey ,to Dunedin to take part in tho tournament. ■ ■ Letters were received : from' Wellington and Auckland asking if members. of ] tho. professional All Black team" were eligible' to play "soccor." .Applications for affiliation, .were received from Cambridge, Waikato','and other country .. districts '.near Auckland;, ' ; A- request from • Taranaki' for. permission to change their colours,' to i : amb'er,and : black was refused, as the' colours would- clash- with those in.<uso by. Wellington.'.-. A' letter' was received from'" the W.F.A. asking for an ■ opinion re ■ "blocking." ' The English F.A. had already ruled that blocking- was Allowed, and it was-dfiided that a copy of. tho .English F.A. .ruling bo forwarded to all secretaries of! affiliated < clubs.'
The secretary was instructed 1 to communicate'with' tho -West Australian .'-team; - which" will bo on .tour through New.' South Wales, asking them' to extend.their . tyur and play matches- throughout tho Dominion.'.
