ENGLISH AMATEUR CHAMPION- • SHIPS. (BT TELEORArn—PKESS ASSOCIATION—COPTKIGnT.) London, July 29. t Harold Smyrk (formerly of Australia, but now of London) won tKo fancy'diving championship of England. Prior to 1907.th0 programme of events for decision at tho English amateur championships did not include a diving contest. Last year the event was boycotted by a majority of the best divers in London. They objected, it was said, to the conditions that caused the event tq become 1 an indoor championship, but as in framing the rules the most expert divers were consulted, this action was considered to be hardly sportsmanlike. Smyrk, who is but a youth, won in fine style. In the opinion of the London "Sportsman".he-is one of the best exponents of neat diving who have ever been seen.
