FEATHERSTON.
A meeting of the Paka Koura Hockey. Club was held 011 Tuesday night, when a credit balance of £9 10s. Bd. was reported from the recont social. Mrs. Lcpenski was. accorded a vote of thanks for her donation of 7s. 6d. It was decided to arrange a match with St. John's, Wellington, for August 15. Votes of thanks were accorded all who had assistedin the social. Messrs. J. Viles and A. H. Knowles left on Wednesday on a . holiday visit to Auckland. The monthly meeting of the Fire Brigade was held on Monday night,' Captain Check presiding! A credit balance of £4 9s. 3d. was reported, and an account of 16s. passed for payment. Lieutenant T. Sheen was granted a month's leave of' absence. A hearty vote of thanks was accordcd the Maryborough Brigado for an invitation to its fortnightly, assemblies! The United Fire Brigado Association wrote that it was offering prizes for the best written essay on any three subjects stipulated in a, circular-from them. It was dccided'to send a'team to tho Auckland competition in March next.'. Mr. S. Skipago was clcctcd \ member of tho brigade.
