BENEVOLENT TRUSTEES.

The Trustees of the Benevolent Institution 1 met yesterday > afternoon. There'were present: the Rev. W. A. Evans (chairman), Mrs. . Darvall, and Messrs: F. G. Bolton, H. Cook, R. Smith, and D. Robertson. With regard to the quarterly meeting at' the Ohiro Home, which had just been held, Mr. Bolton said he : did not think that such a visit-was of much use. He was in favour of surprise visits by individual members: Tlio Rev. W.- A. Evans thought that "the systom of quarterly visits'.was a' very useful one. The Trustees. wero : brought into closa contact with the inmates and thus had an opportunity of ascertaining whether any of_ thorn had any grievance: . In 1 connection with surprise visits, he-stated, that these could also be made by Trustees if.they desjred. The report of the, committeo'which met at the-Home tho sfeeretaty.be authorised to purchase the timber for a- shed to bo erected by labour from,the.Home; and' that further male assistance bo procured for the Institution', since the work in conriection with the grounds and improvements was too much for. the present: staff: A motion was proposed by Mr. A." W. Hogg, M.P., and was carried, as follows: —" The Trustees having examined the Home and seen tho whole of the patients have much pleasure in again expressing their satisfaction with its management. They found many valuable improvements,' not only i to the grounds, but within the building,- effected by the'inmates under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Truebridge and.their staff. _ The inmates appear, to bo receiving most kindly attentiou, they had np. complaints, -they > seem uniformly cheerful, and they testified in an unmistak- ' ablo way their estimation of the treatment they are receiving."
