PETONE NEWS.

On Monday'. evening last the members of the l'etone. branch of the Church of England Moil's Society mot at St. Augustine's Vicarage to hear an address 011 "The Church and Socialism," by Mr. A. E. Morgan. Tho speaker gave as his view that the Church was responsible for the Socialistic movement, owing to its not doing its duty to tho masses, in which argument 110 was supported' by Messrs. Evans, Palmer, Wilkinson, 1 mid House. Rev. J. D. Russell led an able refutation of tho charges laid against tho Church, and was well supported by Messrs. Loo, Rogers, and Richards. Mr. Morgan w,is accorded 1 a hearty vote of thanks for his address. -
