It is not generally known (writes a correspondent) that during their Indian tour tho Prince and Princess of Wales' visited tho Central Hindu Collcgo at-i Benares, founded under tho auspices of tlio Tlieosophical Society. Thoy had an interview with Mrs. Besant, inspected the students, and expressed themsolves much pleased with their visit. Tho British Government is now beginning to recogniso tlio importance of tho educational, worl: in India, which Mrs. Besant considers such a. necessary part of thp Society's work. Mrs.- Besant's practical interest in the welfare of the'children of India may be gauged by the fact that of tbri . present of £1000 mado to her by tho Tlieosophical Society 011 hei; sixtieth Ijirthda.y, which occurred last year, nearly the whole amount was given by her to the various schools for tho Indian population. Tho remainder wan divided among other altruistic objects. '
