KARORI BOROUGH COUNCIL.
The Karori Borougli Council met last night. There wero presentTho Mayor (Mr. CI. I. Dasont), and Councillors Lissington,' Hammond, Raine, Bradnock, Harris, Smith, and Wedde. , Tho Tramways and Electrical Engineer wroto stating that the Council's complaint with reference' to the irregular running of the iast car to Karori would reccivo immediate attention.. The communication was reCC Tho Jlayor of Greymouth forwarded copy of resolution passed at a public meeting there in favour of an-increased -'import duty on Oregon pine. Councillor; Smith remarked that, there was nothing about tho syndicate in the letter. Tho Mayor thought that they might ' take the communication as received." Councillors would, ho continued, no doubt, speak to the member for tho district on the subject when they camo across him. The' AVorks Committee made the following recommendations: —(1) That tho engineer and town clork draw up a report as to a letter received from the City Corporation, regarding expenditure of ■ loan moneys on Northland roads; (2) that Mr. W. J. Bells application regarding removal of spoil at Vera and Cooper Streets be left in the hands of the engineer; (3) that the engineer proceed with the work of constructing tho footpath in I'earce Street; (4) that the purchase of pipes to drain Messrs. Findlo and Palmer's sections bo not approved; (5) that Mr. . Hammerton's letter bo considered by tho Council; (6) that persons applying for building permits deposit the sum of £4 against probable damage to. tho concrete kerb and channel; (7) that tho following widths for the proposed streets in tho Evelyn Estate bo approved Evelyn, -Forbes, Bspiri, and Ponsonby Streets 26ft.. over all, with one 6ft. footpath, kerb and channel; Watson and Mallani Streets (tho latter conditionally) 42ft. over all, with two 6ft. footpaths, concrete kerbs, and channels; and (8) that, as the filling in Evelyn Street across tlie Kaiwarra Stream-was partly in the. City of ; Wellington, the City Engineer's requirements, and that details and dedication- be considered when tho finished plans and specifications were submitted. Tho report was adopted. 1
