BILLIARDS.
An exhibition match lias been arranged betwoen Melbourne Inman (holder of the world's sccord off tho-red, 300) and George Gray, tho boy marvel. Tho game will extend over six sessions, commencing on Tuesday afternoon, July 28, and play will begin at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. A centrally-situated room in Victoria Street, opposite the Public Library, is being fitted up for tho occasion. A standard pocket table will be especially erected by Messrs. Alcock and Co., fitted with their patent resiliont cushions, and crystalatc balls will be used. The wonderful ability of theso players should give lovers of tho gamo much zest for the match, and it will be interesting to see how- tho young player will acquit himself with his formidable adversary.
Mr. W. A. Flavell, local manager J for tho Westport Coal Company, states that he has heard of nothing to justify the report of a gonoral strike, beyond tho general unrest in tho industrial world throughout tho Dominion. Mr. Flavell states that even if it bo truo that tho _ Government has placed an order at Nowc'astle for 10,000 tons of I coal thero is nothing out of tho way in such action, as, large orders havo been placed by the Government beyond Now Zealand before to supplement local supplies for tho railways. Tho causo of that ,was that the outputs of local coal companies woro restricted and tho domnnds for largo orders could not always bo acceded to. Do not try to endure that norve-racking cough.
