LABOUR AND "THE TRADE."
A REPUDIATION. At this annual conference of the Licensed Victuallers' Association of Nov/ Zealand, lioiv in session at tlio Oddfellows] Hallj Lambton Quay, the- matter of cortain. strictures on "the trade" being passed at tho Trades and Labour Conference came up for consideration. Tho strictures were contained in a report which atated" it was an instruction to the Executive of tlio Licensed Victuallers' Association to take a unanimous stand against labour," and "that tho Licensed-Victuallers' Association is hostile'to organised labour." . ' ' After a discussion' tho following resolution was passed:—"That this meeting now places on record the fact that no instruction as stated has ever been sent to tho Executive of tho • Licensed Association of New Zealand, nor has any such'question ever been, discussed. And further, this meeting strongly deprecates tho suggestion that tho Licensed ■ .Victuallers' Association of Now Zealand is hostile to organised labour in any ■form."
