Gold to tile value of £60,000, from King Leopold's Kilo mines, in tho Ituri Provinoo of the Congo Territory, has passed through Usanda. It is reported that enormously rich goldfiolds have boon discovered in the King's private domain. Early in the month it was cabled that thero was "considerable activity on the Kilo goldfields, inside the Congo border, which are to a large extent worked by Australians. The first two lots of gold obtained are valued at ,£70,000 sterling." That the gold should pass through Uganda, the British protectorate in Central Africa, is interesting as bearing on tho future trado outlets of tho district. Belgium has a railway scheme by which it is hoped to bring the gold and copper districts into connection with tho West Coast. ■, • There is a long-standing dispute as to the Anglo-Belgian boundaries.
