In a test case brought by the secretary of tho Waltbamstow branch of the Amalgamated Society of Railwaymen against that Society, Mr. Justico Neville held at tho trial that trade Union funds could bo omployed to iiifluenco legislation by securing representation in the House of Commons. A Union had as much right to support a Socialist as a Unionist or a Liberal. The "Daily Mail" says that Mr. Justice Nevillo's decision is of first importance, sinco a trado Unionist can be compelled to assist Socialism by his involuntary contributions. . Tho "Daily News" considers that the decision is sound sense, and also a vindication of liberty. > i The " Daily Chronicle " remarks : " Trado Unions have now a .free hand to be as political as they choose, and to subsidise Socialism if they like." .
