The decorations in the-Town Hall for the Victoria College students' ball, which was held last night, wore very complete, and for the time being the large ; hall was transformed and beautiful. Tho Potono Drill Hall- was filled to its utmost capacity last evening, the occasion, •being the twenty-fifth annual ball of tho Petona Naval Artillery Volunteers. Fully eighty couples took tho floor. Tho hall was tastefully decorated, and an oxcellent supper was .spread. Mr. P.' 0. Hardhaiu, ' V.C., discharged the duties of M.C. A special train ■ convcycd tho visitors back to town at an early hour this morning. -A Mr. and Mrs. Chas. Pharazyn arrived from Sydney yesterday morning early, and spent tho day ; at-Trentham. ■ The annual social and dance of the AYellington Harriers'- Club was held at the New Century Hall last evening, and was a most successful function. About sixty couples took the floor for tho dances, and excellent music was provided by Messrs. Ormstead (piano) and Kiernan (violin). The supper' catering was by Mawson, of Cuba : Street. During tho evening tho Palmer Cup, and trophy valued at 305., were presented to Mr; P. AV. C. Dement, winner of the three-milo club handicap, and a trophy, valued at 215., to' Mr.' 0. Turnbull, the runner-up. Messrs. F. AVilton ajid C. Lamborg were tho M.C.'s, and songs wero contributed by Miss'Bcnnott and Mr. C. Lamberg.
