Nurse Gardiner deposed that she had extracted tho bullet from tlio roof of the girl's mouth. .John Robert Nicholls deposed that lie sold accused, on Juno 8, tho revolver produced. John R. Shaw, licensee of tho hotel,, deposed that when ho, arrived on the scene lie asked accused: "Did you do tliat?" and lie' replied: "I did it, Sir. Shaw, and am not sorry for it." Detective llowle stated that when'accuscd was' charged with tho offence ho replied: "I don't know'," and twenty minutes-la tor said; :'T suppose they will put m.o in my placo for a year or two for ihis, and/!prob-ably-givo m'o the rope." i Constable. Dandy said that tlio accused asked whether the girl would get better, and added, "Sly God, I am sorry I did it,-.now. I see her lying thero like that." Flei subsequently remarked: "I suppose I will get ten years for this if-Slinnio gets better:". Prisoner, who -was represented by counsel, resen'cd his defence, and was committed for trial. • ■ ..
