Trcgear presiding. . ' Practically tlio whole of tlio morning was 1 occupied in considering tho Public Servico j Superannuation Act, and tlio adoption, of tlio, j following resolutions was agreed to:— 3 That an officer shall bo deemed an original ) contributor for the purposes of tlio Act pro- ) vided his.contribution's are paid as from Juno ) 30, 1008. That a definite'contract bo .issued ) to each contributor to tlio fund covering ) proof of ago, date of entrance to tlio fund, > date of commencement of servico as affecting ' tlio fund, and other essentials. That con- • tributors to the fund be supplied annually 1 with a statement of their credit in such • fund. ■ Some discussion took place as to tho rights ) of compensation' of officers under the fund ■ and insurance policyholders in relation to the benefits of the fund. 1 It was also decided to propose that tlio i retiring ages under tho Act should be op- ■ tional at 60 for men, and 50 for women, and ■ compulsory at 65 and 55 respectively. It was also agreed that in tlio case of a cou--1 tributor being .rotired-,. by direction of the ■ Minister, three months' notico : should not | be required; some provision also to be made . for those officers who-have short break ' of service not exceeding. one month in any one year, such break being through no fault of their own, : •It was resolved to urge that 1 the following be added to Section 24 of tho ! Act: "Provided that a contributor .who'is retired through no fault of his own beforo becoming entitled to retiring allowance slnill receive, in addition to-the amount actually . contributed to tho fund by him, interest at the rate of 3} per cent, also provided that a contributor of 25 years' servico and-upwards in retiring through no fault of his own shall have tho option of'taking a pro rata retiring allowance." It was also'decided that somo . provision be made in-tho Act whereby contributors being rotired from tho servico shall have tho option ,of continuing their contributions so as to qualify for a retiring allowance, such contributions and allowance" to be based on the salary at retirement. A further motion' was adopted that tho allowance to widows be £o2 per annum instead of £18.. , If this increase b.o refused' by tho Government they'to bo asked to; 'ascertain' from; the actuary what increased'contributions' would . be necessary to enable such increased pension to be paid; ' ''' -' .' /v. .
