SEQUEL TO A WHARF ACCIDENT.
i ■ DEATH OF A LABOURER; A A wharf labourer, named Patrick Finlay died at the hospital yesterday as a result' of injuries sustained on the wharf on April 18. Deceased met with an accident whilst working iu "J" shed on tho Queen's Wharf, hia spiuo being so badly injured tliat he was-at . once removed to tho hospital. Finlay, who resided at South Avenue, off Hopper Street, was working for'tho Harbour Board, and was engaged'with; some other labourers at what is- known as "breaking down"; a stack of bales of flax, which; stack was about. 15ft. by ■ 14ft.'in dimensions. ' The stack' collapsed; suddenly, with the result that the men were -' buried' amongst tlie.bales, Finlay sustaining the injuries which are alleged to have led to his death. Deceased is stated to have a wife and two children residing, in Auckland., An- , inquest will be held; at the hospital thia ... afternoon before Mr.. W. G. Riddell, S.M.. coroner. .; '
