'. ■ Berlin, 1 July 13.Tho German Government has notified China that Turkish subjects in China will in future bo under German'protection. France, which exorcised a protectorate over Turks in China for 170 yoars, was not aware of any change having been made. • Up till 1888 France claimed a protectorate over all Christians in China; which right was annulled by China in that year. It is npt clear how tho French protectorate over Turks in China arose. The present' transition is mainly interesting as a-side-light on German inlluonco at Constantinople.
