The Wellington club , run on Saturday ovc/r a'slippery\cpurse from ICarori. The trail, laid/by iJVY-Bennett and S. J. Smith,' led, from/^Mrs.-'.JVebb's tea rooms over, a-stiff bush-covered viile, thence following the stiyairifor'a couple of : miles, arid' returning .stfiop inclino near tho Makara Road and ~ back'/ through Karori. Great difficulty in securing--fq.othold was experienced by tho runners on the'billsides,' whilo the conditions on ;the flat wero, no better, tho men being at time's knee deep in mud or water. ■ Apart from a few unexpected and harmless slides no mishaps, ocr, -curred, and the,.pack', returned home'covered-; ■with mud, if not with glory. New. members are still making their appearance, and on Saturday three men who have been members of other clubs took part. - Of thqse, "bjio was lately a member of tho Highgato Harriers, London,' another- is a recent arrival; from Capetown, where'he' took a prominent part, in the sport, and the third was., for soriio years a'momber of tho Balclutha Harriers.- A.fast run in- over,tho last.four hundred yards resulted in a win for H, J. Pollock, with; F. Wilton and J. Finn close up in that order. Next Saturday a sealed handicap. race over ..a. three-inilo course .will bo held at Miramar' for the Palmer Cup. About twenty-five men' halve 'entered for the event, which should result in a close contest.
