In 'the Police Court this" morning Mr. Widdowson, S.M., gave his decision. m a case in which Francis Porter, licensee of the Caversham Hotel, was charged that, on June 3 last, he did supply with liquor Patrick Lynch' (now deceased), who wSs m a state of "intoxication. His ' Worship said ho was ,satisfied Lynch was in a state of intoxication within tho meaning ,of the Act when he was served at defendant's hotel. ; Lynch ,was. served twice at the hotel, once by defondant and once by defendant's son. The Magistrate said he considered. the case a serious one, and" fined defendant £10 with costs £2 ss. Tho license ivas riot endorsed. Ashburton, July 10. At the Magistrate's Court this morning, before! Mr. V. G. Day, S.M., James Nealon, charged with breaking , the licensing laws, pleaded guilty, and. was on one count convicted and ordered to come up for sentence when, called upon. Oil another, that of keeping liquor for sale within tho No-License district of Ashburton, he was convicted and fined- £30 and costs, tho liquor to be con'fiscated. lnveroargill, July 10. George Tull was fined £40 for unlawfully selling liquor > n stables at the, rear of the Empire .Hotel. Six bottles of whisky and ton gallons of beer were seized.
