FOR JUNE. :In his monthly report for June, tho pilot at Patea says:— "The channel over the bar is straight, bearing S.W, by S, from the lighthouse, with about 14 feet of water on' the. bar at: high tide' and spring tide, and about 11 feet at neap tides; also from tho end of the eastern wall' to the end of the western wall about 11 feet at spring tides, and about 8 feet at n6ap tides, and the distance between the..two breakwaters is about 100 feet. ■ "I sounded the bar on June 21, and got 11 feet on the.bar, and 9ft. Bin. from tho end of the western wall all tho way in to the river. • " The river keeps much tho same, the deepest water being on. the west' side from tho tide gauge. up: There; have been 14 arrivals and 13 departures since. ray, last report, four steamers, going, out on the lights. Everything at the fetation is in good working order." .
