THE BAKERS' STRIKE.
POSITION UNCHANGED. ' Speaking- to ,a reporter yesterday, Mr. H. F. Allen, secretary, of the' Master Bakers' Union, said that the position regarding the strike remained tho same as far as the masters were concerned. Thev ivere as determined .-is ever to maintain the position they had taken' up. The starting 1 of: the employees' ba.kehouse caused : tho'masters no alarm, arid it could ..not-'induce them to waver. ... . "Mr. Harlen, president of the Bakers' Operatives' Union, said that meetings were being .hc-ld to keq> the. men together,, but there was no , particular business to transact. The bakehouse iu Webb Street had commenced operations, and the men were kept, extremely- busy. In fact, they found that they couid not turn out all the bread' they could dispose of, aud the men . at. the counter were kept hard at- work. . It was proposed to manufacture on a larger scale and endeavours were beins made to secure a, couple more ovens.
