THE MAORI'ENTERTAINMENT. The final arrangements for tho Maori entertainment, which is .to bo held at tjje Town Hall-, this evening, have been made, and everything points to a novel and interesting night's pleasure. His Excellency the Governor and Lady Plunket and His Worship the Mayor'and Mrs., Hislop hate extended their patronage. This programme includes a budget of songs 1 of the - Urew'era by some membors of Rua's party, - which' is at. present in' "VVellington. Other items ■'are -an ancientsong of welcome, _poi dances and song by the Raukawa • poi girls, a haV.a by tho - Otaki girls, and another by mow, a Maori flute ■solo,: a war dance, and 'various other items of special interest. The programmo sets out ■ the songs in botSi the -Maori and English languages for !the convenience •of the 'audience. ' • r /' ' ELOCUTIONAPIY- RECITAL. ' The elocutionary reMt.il which held in the schoolroom belonging to the Courtenay Place' Congregational ,'Church last evening was exceedingly well/attended, accommodation being taxed,-to tho utmost. The programme was a varitjd one, ' consisting of songs, ■ duets; trios./ pianoforto i solos, and recitations, both gi/aye and gay.' The first item given was a pianoforto solo ■by Miss Violet Lewis, whicla was well received.
