The raco, was run in thick misty rain. Lady Quiz was first away from Zalski, Tatterdemalion, and Mercury, Going out of tho • straight, Topaz had command, 'while Waipu and Enchanted States wero last. Passing the bridge, Lady Quiz and Woollara wore clear of tho field, the nearest attendants being Topaz,, Cliarlcmagnej and .-.Tatterdemalion, Then the mist obscurod them. - When tlioy emerged at tlio Bbeds, Lady Quiz and Woollara wero still in front. Passing tho bridge the -last' time, Woollara headed Lady Quiz, wliilo Mercury closed up. Lady Quiz, however, led into tho straight, and then came away, and won by four lengths, a length botween tho second and third, horses. Waipu was never prominent, and finished- in tne ruck.
