\ Tlio Wellington Garrison. Band has always hold a strong position musically, in 1 Wellington, but it is doubtful if it was ever - so. popular as it is . now. Recently its' equipment' was supplemented by a""number" of' mechanical effects, which,' while r : riot taken' seriously by the musical elect, certainly,'add' considerably to the effectiveness., of ;doscrip-; tivo pieces. At tho Town : , Hall; last; even-:, ing two. selections of the, class , mentioned, wore introduced in the programme. • . -The: first was entitled " From Dawn to Twilight,"a fantasia descriptivo of a day's holiday in thd country; and tho secondrwa.s:tho 1 morooau " The Stampede," an .interpretation; of lifo. oil a cattlo ranch,- ropleto^ffi i 'ysrolj;er shots, whip-cracking, tho ..harkiiig : of, dogs,'- : 'and'other, realistic effects', 'natural. fo'X fine' degreo. An attractive number was"tho~quartotto from "Norma" (Bellini) by-Messrs; Donaldson, Goodall, Hull, and Elliott, who played with good ' tone and' maintained d: nico balance. Corporal Goodall 'displayed his facility as a cornetist in,"" The Mocking Bird" (Cox), with variations'.' Other items wore tho march "8.8. arid C;F."" (J. -0. Hume), tlio waltz ''.Georgia',", and an acceptable selection of airs from "Tho Pirates of Penzance" (Sullivan).
