Revolutionaries declaro that Matik, a great Nationalist preacher, was half strangled at Teheran, in the presence of other prisoners. The cord round his neck was then loosened to enable the executioner, to .hack the neck with a blunt knife. Matik's mangled body was thrown to dogs. In tho House of Commons, the Secretary of State for Foreign' Affairs,' Sir Edward Grey, said that tho posting of troops near tho Legation at Teheran was an improper proceeding, and that .Great Britain had informed''Persia that refugees would not be surrendered without a definite and roliablo guarantee of proper treatment. Teheran, July. 1. The Minister at Teheran (Sir C. A. SpringRice) has refused to accept a verbal apology in Connection with the incidont of surrounding the Consulate. , ' KING AND SKAH. A German correspondent at Teheran states, that the Shah complained to King Edward that tlie British Legation -was granting asylum to. members of the Persian Parliament. King Edward's reply justified the action of tho Legation, and emphasised the fact that numerous executions, without trial .have occurred in Persia. ' King Edward and tho Shah exchanged telograms. ■ Cossacks surrounded the British Legation at Teheran because the member of the Persian Parliament for Tabriz had taken refuge there, 'l'lio Legation protested against this action as being an insult, and demanded the removal of tho Cossacks.
