CAPITAL PUNISHMENT.
. — ■ ABOLITION BILL WITHDRAWN. (by telegraph tress association—copyright.) Paris, July 1. A Hill to abolish capital punishment, introduced in the French Chamber of Deputies by the Prime Minister, M. (Jloiuenceau, has been withdrawn. Tho commutation by President Fallieres of the death sentence passed on Solielland, murderer of a little girl, caused considerable outcry in l'rance last September.
Tho "Petit l'nrisicn" took a referendum, which resulted in I,4l2,ooo,protests against tho President's too frequent exercise of the prerogative of reprieve. Only 328,0U0 supported his action.
