The Rev.' Isaac Jolly, of Palmersto.n North, will be "supply" at' St. John's Church on Sunday next. . ' Mr. Alex; Yuillo has been appointed to tho position of taxidermist at the Newtown Museum at a salary of £160 per annum. Messrs. James and Joseph M'Mahon have arrived in Wellington to arrange for a season of cinematography, to commence at the Town Hall on Thursday next. At last, night's meeting of the City Council, Cr. Smith, who has not been enjoying tho best of health lately, was granted two months' leave of absence from meetings of the Council., It is Cr. Smith's intention to pay a visit to Samoa.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Waldron (neo Miss May' King) arrived in Brisbane from America by the Aorangi a few days ago. Mr. Waldron will be remembered as tho leading actor in "The Squaw Man" Company of a couplo of years ago.
Mr. A. Fraser, of the teaching staff of the Wellington Technical School, was •mado tho recipient of a presentation from his fellow teachers and pupils on sevoring his connection with tho institution yesterday. On behalf of tho pupils and staff, Mr. W. S. La Trobo, tho director, presented Mr. Fraser with a purse of sovereigns, and in a brief speech wished him bon voyage and good luck. It is Mr. Fraser's intention to proceed to London, where he will enter the Royal College, having gained his place on work sent Home some twelve months ago.
Mr. Allan Hamilton, manager of the Rickards Vaudeville Company, left for Auckland by the Talune yesterday afternoon. Ho recently suffered a severe illness at Dunedin, and is proceeding north via the East' Coast. Mr. Hamilton, who is also interested in "The Prince Chap" Company, will proceed on to Sydney from Auckland to ba present at tho inauguration of " The Little Breadwinner" Company, which ho will probably manage during its tour of o the Do.minion. • - \::0 UA Press Association telegram, from Dunodin states that at . tho Magistrate's Court yesterday morning Mr: O'Callaghan, clerk of Court, who is leaving on three months' leave prior. to retiring on superannuation, was met by Bench and Bar. After serving in the Navy and tho Maori War, Mr. O'Callaghan spent 37 years in the Justice Department. Mr. Widdowson and Mr. Graham (Magistrates), and Mr. Finch (President 'of tho Law Society) referred to Mr. O'Callaghan's long and honourable service, and paid a tribute to him for unfailing courtesy and efficiency. Subsequently Mr. O'Callaghan ,was presonted witli a gold watch on behalf of the legal profession, and with an armchair on behalf of tho' Magistrates, staff of tho Court, police, and other branches of the Justice Department.
