BISHOP WALLIS IN ENGLAND.
-i>— Ap account of tho movements of the Right Rev. Dr. Wallis, Bishop of Wellington, and Mrs. Wallis, who are now in England, is given in tho "Church Chroniclo" for July, as follows: —The bishop sends good news of himself and Mrs. Wallis. The latter met him on arrival in Paris, where they passed a week or ten days together before crossing the Channel. On reaching -England, they spent tho time botween their arrival and Holy week among, their relations at Streatham, Bridehead and Salisbury. On Monday, in Holy Week, tho bishop celebrated in Salisbury Cathedral. The rest of Holy Week was spent with tho bishop's eldest sister, at Streatham. Mrs. Wallis was called away to her mother, who was seriously ill, though, happily, she has recovered long since. Easter was passed with the bishop's sister at Wycombe Abbey, High Wycombe, where there was a family gathering; tho bishop and Mrs. Wallis, his brother and wifo and family, and tho two sisters who reside in England. The last letter received was written from Cambridge,' which both tho bishop and Mrs. Wallis wero visiting for tho first timo since their arrival in England. On May 3 tho Bishop preached the University sermon. Tho visit to his old University and College appeared to bo most cheering to him. Ho-relates that tho Master of Selwyn College had shown him tho original Letters Patent with the mistako in tho longitude that caused the Melanesian Isles to bo included in the jurisdiction of the Bishop of New Zealand. They had been given t-o hira by one of Bishop John Selwyn's daughters. They are doubtless more safely housed than they would bo in Now Zealand. On May 30 tho Bishop was to preach in Salisbury Cathedral. Colonel Williams had taken a houso on Chelsea Embankment, and tho Bishop and Mrs. Wallis wora to mako that their headquarters during May to August, which .period includes tho two great gatherings, the Pan-Anglican Congress and tho Lambeth Conference, at which the Bishop is to read his paper on tho Ministry of Healing. - , .
