SOCIAL AND PERSONAL.
The Kelburno Ladies' Bonding Club gave a'very-enjoyable progressive euchre party at the Kiosk last night, when a great many guests wore present. Tho largo room and the alcove were dovotcd to tho players of ouchro or bridge, and supper was sot on .the verandah. During the evening a, band played, and some of the guests contributed musical items as follows: —The Misses Johnston, violin and piano duet; Mrs. Tapley, ■song; Mrs. M'Villy and Mr. Melville, two duets ; and Mrs. Mueller, song.'Mrs. Hislop (president), Mrs. M'Villy (secretary), ana Mosdames Dinnio and Devino (vice-presi-donts)) acted as hostesses. Mi'. Devine, junr., took charge of the euchre tables, and Mr. Knowles was in charge of tho bridge. Mrs. Hislop wore a black silk frock and whito lace; iMrs. iM'Villy,'paid pink chiffon taffetas frock, with trimming of silk fringe and gold sequinod net ; Mrs. Dinnio, dove-groy silk, with touches of pink and gold; Mrs. Devine, black frock with net trimming; Mrs. Kennedy Macdonald,; black lace- frock; Miss Arlino Thackeray, white; Mrs.-Bonnie, rose-pink velvet; Dr." Edith Huntley, grey silk; Mrs. J. Clark, black silk, with cream 'laco; Miss Roach, black frock; Miss Devine, pale blue silk; Miss Johnstone (Dunedin), pink frock; Miss L. Johnston, pale blue. Among others present wero:—Mr. and . Mrs. Buxton, Sir. and Mrs., 1 Hoops (Cliristchurch), ,Sir Kenneth .Douglas, hon. T. K. Macdonald,- and Messrs. Izard, Hardy, Lothbridge, Dinnio, M'Villy, and Baxter.
Announcement is mado of the engagement of Miss Muriel Wylio to Sir Guy Featherston, of Auckland. •
' Miss Arlino Thackeray, who visited Wellington with tho Exhibition Orchestra, is 'staying in Wellington now.
■ Mrs.. Annio Besant is to. arrive in Wellington.on July 30. She will stay at the Grand 'Hotel during her few days' visit.
The Victoria' College Students'. Association is giving its third annualballin the Town Hall on Wednesday, July 22. . ,
The engagement is announced of Miss Ethel Walton, daughter of the Rev. I. Walton, Lower Hutt, to Mr. Duncan " Cameron, of Pahaua.
