The vessel will be cleared by tho Health and Customs officials this morning, and will bo berthed about 9 o'clock. THE WARSHIPS. Yesterday morning H.M.S. Pioneer, from Auckland, arrived in the harbour. The vessel will remain at Wellington until July 27 to put the naval reserves through their practice. It is rumoured that H.M.S. Encounter will probably proceed on a -cruise in Pelorus Sound before returning to Auckland to join the Powerful in welcoming the American Fleet. It is expected the H.H.Ships Encounter and Pioneer will make the journey north .in company.. • THE SYDNEY BOAT. - ARRIVAL OF THE MAHENO. Shortly after six last night the Union Company's turbine steamer Maheno, 5252' tons, Captain Neville, arrived from Sydney direct. She left Sydney at seven o'clock on. Saturday night, and in crossing the Tasman Sea experienced light southerly and S.W. winds and moderate seas. A PINE WEATHER VOYAGE. ' At two o'clock yesterday afternoon, the New Zealand. Shipping Company's liner Ruapehu, from London, via Capetown', and Hobart, dropped anchor in the Stream. Pratique was granted, and the vessel berthed at the No. 1 South Queen's Wharf shortly after 3 p.m. Tho Ruapehu left London on May 14, and Plymouth two days' later. She experienced moderate winds and seas, and-fine weather to Toneriffe, where she arrived oil May 21, and after a short stay resumed the voyage. Moderate trade winds, accompanied by fine weather, were experienced'. on the run from Toneriffe to Capetown. She arrived at the latter port on June 6, and continued the voyage to Hobart the same day. A pleasant . voyage was made, between Capetown and Hobart, exceptionally lino weather prevailing throughout. Hobart was reached on June 2G, and, after discharging 520 tons of cargo, the final stage of the long voyage was commenced early on June 27. In' crossing the Tasman Sea the Ruapehu encountered moderate southerly - winds and seas, with fine weather.. The usual sports, concerts, etc.,were held during the. voyage. The Ruapoliu, oil completing discharge at Wellington, will proceed south' iu continuance of her discharging operations, and is expected to leave for Lyttelton oil Saturday or Sunday.

Last -night' the Union' Company's steamer Pohorua was expected to leave Timaru for Wellington direct. The Koromiko was also fixed to-leave Westport. for Lyttelton at 11 o'clock last night.

Mr. Mawson, late chief officer of the Tarawera, has transferred to a similar position on the Talune, and -Messrs. Ryan and Franki, second and third officers of tho Mokoia, have taken up similar dutios on tho Taluns.

Mr. Robert Galway, one of the, engineers of the Matatua, who was seriously injured onboard the vessel last month, will arive from Gisborno in a few days to await- orders from the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company.

This morning the Union Company's -steamer Talunc arrives from Southern ports in the Mokoia's running. The Taluno goes as far as Auckland, where sho will tranship passengers, etc., to the Moana, which, instead of- coming through to Dunedin; returns to Sydney from Auckland. ■

The iron barque Glenlora, TOG tons register, is reported sold at ,€llOO. This vessel ; was sold by the Shaw, .Savill and Albion Company in June, 1898, for JSISOO, and was resold two months later for .£2200. The iron barque Hudson, 771 tons register, has changed hands at =£1225. This vessel was sold in June, 1593, by. the Shaw, Savill and Albion Company for .£2OOO. Both of theso vessels were originally frequent traders between London. and New Zealand. It is reported that the six-masted schooner, Edward J. Lawrence, the second largest woodon schooner in the world, was launched on April 4 from the Percy and Small shipyard, in Bath, Maine. The vessel, which was built for the J. C. W'inslow Company, of Portland, was christened by Miss Addie M. Lawrence, daughter of the man after whom tho schooner was named. The Edward J.'Lawronco will be engaged in the coastwise coal-carrying trade! Sho has a gross tonnage of 3350, is 320.2 ft. long, 50ft. beam, and 23.9 ft. deep. The schooner is lighted with electricity, and has a complete telephone • equipment. . '
